چکیده

In k 2 experimental design, the classical fractional factorial designs, the Plackett-Burman designs and the Taguchi orthogonal-array designs all require, with few exceptions, n 2 test conditions, for some k n ≤ . Tsao and Wibowo (2005) pointed out that when only m of the k 2 effects/interactions are non-zero, only m test conditions are required for their estimation. Given the identities of m presumed non-zero effects/interactions, they developed a method to identify a set of exactly m test conditions. Confounding is a major issue for use of any non-full factorial design. The concept of resolution has been developed as a way to describe qualitatively the worst level of confounding. Building on the work of Tsao and Wibowo, this paper focuses on the issue of confounding and shows that their method can be used to avoid confounding among any given set of effects/interactions and to achieve any desired resolution level.

An intuitive design pattern for sequentially estimating parameters of a 2k factorial experiment with active confounding avoidance and least treatment combinations

k 2 full factorial designs may be prohibitively expensive when the number of factors k is large. The most popular technique developed to reduce the number of treatment combinations is the fractional factorial design; confounding in estimating the model parameters naturally results in various resolution and aberration levels. While very useful, these resolution levels may not satisfy experimente...

Cut-off Sampling Design: Take all, Take Some, and Take None

Extended Abstract. Sampling is the process of selecting units (e.g., people, organizations) from a population of interest so that by studying the sample we may fairly generalize our results back to the population from which they were chosen. To draw a sample from the underlying population, a variety of sampling methods can be employed, individually or in combination. Cut-off sampling is a pr...

Optimizing potassium ferrate for textile wastewater treatment by RSM

Background: Application of potassium ferrate is a chemical oxidation approach used for water and wastewater treatment. The aim of this study is to apply central composite design (CCD) and response surface methodology (RSM) to optimize potassium ferrate consumption in the treatment of wastewater from carpet industries. Methods: Samples in this experimental study were collected from wastewater...
